Come enjoy “Life in Full Bloom”, a concert benefiting Blue Water Baltimore, this Sunday, October 1 at the Cylburn Arboretum Vollmer Center. Bringing together Grace Touhill, soprano, Yangwei Xu, pianist, and Giorgio Consolati on flute, this concert encompasses art song to modern repertoire. The selections inspire listeners to reflect on their relationship to our living environment and foster a deeper connection to the Earth.

The story of lyric soprano Grace Touhill is one of a vocalist’s journey to nurture the world. Recent performances include her international debut in Brasilia, Brazil as the featured American soprano during the US Embassy’s Fourth of July celebration concert with the Orquestra Sinfonica Do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro. While in Brazil, Grace Touhill and pianist Jennifer Heemstra offered a full recital which included the international premier of selections from Evan Mack’s Angel of the Amazon. Miss Touhill is looking forward to her upcoming role this November as Cathleen in the Peabody Opera production of Riders to the Sea by Ralph von Williams!

Yangwei Xu

Yangwei Xu is a passionate and accomplished pianist with a strong background in piano performance. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance with full scholarship under the tutelage of the famous pianist Benjamin Pasternack at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she also holds a Graduate Performance Diploma. Before her studies at Peabody, she earned her master’s at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, under the guidance of Prof. Xiang Zou.

Giorgio Consolati

Praised for his “lustrous tone” (Musical America), Italian flutist Giorgio Consolati has performed at Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, the Marlboro Music Festival, and the Beijing China Conservatory. Giorgio is the newly appointed principal flutist of the York Symphony Orchestra andis a top prizewinner of several competitions including the National Society of Arts and Letters Woodwind Competition and the De Lorenzo International Flute Competition. In 2019 Giorgio has released educator, Giorgio teaches at the Peabody Institute as the assistant of Marina Piccinini and gave masterclasses for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, at the Longy Conservatory of Bard College, and the Pavia Conservatory in Italy.
