Jones Falls Tree Maintenance & City Nature Challenge Wildlife Safari

Volunteers Wanted

Join Maryland Trout Unlimited and Blue Water Baltimore for a day of tree maintenance and to celebrate Baltimore’s City Nature Challenge and document wildlife along the section of Jones Falls that was restored in 2017.  This stream restoration project was funded by the MD Department of Natural Resources.  Both organizations are committed to the long term success of this project.  We are seeking participants and volunteers for two activities:
1)  To  document wildlife as part of Baltimore City’s Nature Challenge:
  • Please download the app ahead of time onto a smartphone and want to document wildlife.  Use the hashtag #CityNatureChallenge on any social media posts you make.
  • If you have extra macro-invertebrate nets… bring them!
  • If you want to go into the stream bring waders or boots.
  • Bring binoculars to document birds.
2) To do tree maintenance on our restoration trees and help us determine how many trees we need to replant next autumn:
  • Volunteers will be restaking knocked down, but alive, trees and determining the health of the trees
  • Dress to sweat and get dirty!

Both Activities will be on the restoration site.  Please bring a reusable water bottle and wear sturdy shoes.  Snacks will be provided. BWB will provide traffic vests.
