International Coastal Cleanup
Join the International Coastal Cleanup and be a part of the world’s largest volunteer effort for our oceans!
If you have registered for the cleanup, please be sure to check your email (including spam and trash folders!) for information that we sent out with details!
Organized by the Ocean Conservancy, the International Coastal Cleanup engages people worldwide to remove trash from beaches and waterways, identify the sources of debris and change the behaviors.
In 2015, the 30th anniversary of the International Costal Cleanup, more than 18 million pounds of trash were collected by nearly 800,000 volunteers around the world. Trash collected is cataloged and used to inform Ocean Conservancy’s Ocean Trash Index — the world’s largest item-by-item, location-by-location database of trash found in near-shore environments. This database informs individuals and other researchers who then use the data to develop solutions to prevent trash from reaching our waterways in the first place!
This year, Blue Water Baltimore is leading three cleanups:
Gwynns Falls Trail
Wilson Point Park
Middle Branch Trail
Thanks to our friends at Ultimate Watersports for providing kayaks for the Wilson Point Park cleanup, at this site only, we will be removing trash from the shorelines via the kayaks. Limited number of spaces available.
Registration is now closed for the cleanups – please check our calendar, we have plenty of other volunteer events this fall!
