Better Waterways Cleanup

Each year in November Better Waterways Cleanup works with volunteers to remove trash throughout the Gunpowder, Patapsco, Herring Run, Gwynns Falls and Jones Falls Watersheds.

Join us for a morning of service to help cleanup trash and restore recreational and water access to our Baltimore waterways. All materials (including gloves and trash bags) will be provided.

Although trash is not the biggest threat to Baltimore’s water quality, it is one of the easiest to address. With many hands and just a few hours of work, it is possible to make our streams healthy and beautiful again!

Volunteers should dress in layers and wear clothes that can get muddy; closed-toe shoes are mandatory.  We don’t anticipate getting into the water but the cleaning site is on a hillside next to the Herring Run stream. Volunteers should also bring a reusable water bottle (water jug will be provided).

Groups and individuals are welcome.

This event is held in partnership with the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy. This event is sponsored by REI.
