Storm Drain Adoption & Art Workshop – 6/7
Monday, June 7 • 7:00 pm • 8:00 pm
Blue Water Baltimore is excited to annouce that we have redesigned and repurposed our Storm Drain Art Program for 2021. The biggest change is that we will no longer be supporting the stenciling of storm drains with spary paint. After running this program for many years, we found that maintainance issue has proven impossible to track. If you have already stenciled storm drains through our program, you will continue to have the opportunity to borrow our stencil kits to restore the art you have put down.
We are now advocating an adoption & chalking art campaign for storm drains. When you attend our workshop you will learn what responsibilites that come with adopting your neighborhood storm drain. We will also be sharing some fun chalking techniques to inspire you (did you know you can buy spray chalk?!). Chalk art is ephemeral, everchanging, and non-toxic — just like water! You’re art a gift to the next rainfall which will take it and leave you with a clean canvas to decorate again. When you regularly take up the practice of chalking up your storm drain with art and messaging, you’re giving your community a gift of new messages and new drawings in new vibrant colors. Join us!!!
