a group of trees with the words free trees over them

Join Morgan State University and Purdue University at the Johns Hopkins Eastern Campus for a tree giveaway during an Earth Day Celebration!

Blue Water Baltimore is partnering with Morgan State, Purdue University EPICS’ program, and TreeBaltimore to celebrate our Mother Earth. Come by for a fun day of crafts, activities, educational booths and a free tree giveaway.

PLEASE NOTE: The tree giveaway only open to Baltimore City residents to plant a tree in their yard and care for their growth to maturity.

From small flowering and fruiting trees to large canopy trees, each one makes a difference in our city. Trees cool and clean our air, absorb stormwater, increase biodiversity, and beautify our neighborhoods. Ultimately contributing to improved water quality by reducing runoff and if located near your home reducing your energy usage to heat and cool your living space.

TREE OPTIONS:

We have 10 trees species available to pre-order and maybe available for walkups. Trees range in size from 1′ to 5′ tall in pots that are 1-3 gallons. They can easily fit inside of a small car either in the driver or passenger seat. If you bring a pickup truck, please bring a tarp or blanket to cover your trees.

  • Allegheny Serviceberry
  • Paw Paw
  • American Hornbeam
  • Eastern Redbud
  • White Fringetree
  • Sweetbay Magnolia
  • Black Gum
  • Hackberry
  • Persimmon
  • Bald Cypress

PLEASE NOTE: All registered tree adoptions will be available for pickup from 10am-12pm. From 12pm-2pm, all remaining trees will be available for walk-up adoption until they are gone. We cannot guarantee your tree will still be available if you do not arrive before 12pm.

Tree Adoption requirements:

  • Trees must be planted on your property and not in the public right of way, at a school or at a church.
  • The location of the home must be in Baltimore City
  • You must be willing to plant and care for your tree until it is mature
  • If you registered for a tree and do not come before noon, it will be offered to anyone who comes.
  • No more than 3 trees can be adopted per household
  • Please plant your tree by June 1st or sooner

Don’t know where to plant your tree or which tree to select? No worries, we will have expert staff and volunteers at the event who can help you pick the right tree for the correct location on your yard. If you need more guidance, you can check out descriptions of the trees we have available on the order form, and instructions for how to plant and care for your tree are available on our website.
