On October 18th in 1972, Congress signed the Clean Water Act into law. Under this landmark legislation, the Environmental Protection Agency takes steps to protect the health of the nation’s navigable waterways. In the last fifty years, we’ve seen Baltimore’s waterways take substantial strides forward in pollution reduction and water quality. While we have much further to advance before the city’s waterways are fishable and swimmable for all, we’re thrilled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act this fall. We’ll take a moment to honor the vital, and often unrecognized, work of some of our most impactful community leaders–our Clean Water Champions–and chart a path forward for the next 50 years of impact in our watershed and community.
Join us in celebration of half-a-century of progress on Tuesday October 18th from 6 to 9 pm at Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen. With delicious small-plates and signature cocktails, there’s no better way to celebrate the changemakers in our watershed than at Blue Water Baltimore’s CWA50 Awards Reception.
