Do-It-Yourself Rain Garden Workshop

Blue Water Baltimore is offering an in-depth 2-day training course for Water Audit participants who want to design and install their own rain garden. This training will cover everything you need from plant selection to material resources to design tips and templates. Designing your own garden is time and labor intensive, but, it can be fun! It is also more affordable. Typical residential rain garden design fees range from $200-$500 per property.

After this training, you may visit highlighted examples to see some rain gardens firsthand. These examples will help you to understand what your finished project should look like.

We’ll offer a complete rundown of rain garden design and installation. We will help you assess your property and go over key points before creating your rain garden, including:

  • determining slope and area draining to your garden
  • sizing your garden to capture the 1” storm
  • identifying local sources for soil, mulch and plants
  • avoiding common mistakes

Cost:  $50 per household, advance registration required by January 8th. Click here to register now!
